First Christmas In Heaven

It's hard to experience holidays without loved ones that have always been there. My mother died on Christmas Eve. Somebody gave this poem to me shortly after. I have shared it with many since then. I hope it will bring you as much comfort as it did me ... and that you will share it with those you know that have had to let go of somebody this year.

December 26, Any Year

My First Christmas in Heaven

I’ve had my first Christmas in Heaven, and oh, what a glorious day! I stood with the Saints of the ages, who knew Christ as the Truth and the Way.

I heard the great heavenly choir; what rapture to hear them all sing. And oh, what celestial music they sang for our Savior and King.

They sang the glad songs of redemption; how Jesus to Bethlehem came, And how they’d called His name Jesus that all might be saved through His name.

They sang once again, all the angels, the song they had sung that blest morn, When shepherds first heard the glad story that Jesus, the Savior, was born.

O dear ones, I wish you had heard them. No Christmas on earth can compare, With all of the rapture and glory, we witness in Heaven so fair.

You know how I’ve always loved Christmas. It seemed such a wonderful day. With all of my loved ones around me, the family so happy and gay.

Oh yes, now I see why I loved it, and oh, what a joy it will be, when all of my saved loved ones are with me to share in the glories I see.

So, dear ones on earth, here’s my greeting. Look up till the day dawn appears, and know what a Christmas awaits you beyond all our partings and tears.

What great losses you have had, but I am so glad you can rejoice in knowing you will spend eternity with them ... our lives here are a drop in the bucket. It's so hard to let go of those who are a part of our hearts! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jana.
