The Beauty of Today

On Saturday, Randal and I celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. We aren't doing tangible gifts since neither of us can think of anything we need, but we've made plans to "Make Memories," a tradition we began when our son was very young. They last so much longer than the stuff.

We'll be doing an overnight visit to the Eastern Shore area of Virginia to visit a place we've talked about many times ... The Great Dismal Swamp NWR. There's also a couple of historic towns with great architectural delights and maybe a romantic cafe where we can grab a sandwich.

Yesterday I received a letter from an aunt (wise enough not to have purchased a computer so she still does lovely note cards and handwritten words), and a picture of some grand live oaks was included. She sends me pictures of nature in every letter. But this picture had a story begun that continued on pages not sent, so I searched online and found it there.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did .. thinking it would so appropriate for our anniversary celebration. Living life one day at a time and making it the best you can get with praise to God for all His many blessings which are hid in each day, good or bad, for us to grow and become more like Him.

The Beauty of today
by Eckhart Tolle

"... some people feel ambivalent about anniversaries, birthdays and the like. Some even feel a little guilty when they think about the past, though the memories may be pleasant.

'Am I avoiding the present moment?' they ask. They belong to a growing number of people who are 'practicing presence' - endeavoring to let go of an excessive and unhealthy preoccupation with past and future, and embrace the place where life happens." Read the entire article.
