Meadow Farm Museum - Richmond, Virginia

by Donna L. Watkins

Meadow Farm is a working farm and outdoor museum. There is also a visitor's center which contains a lot of historical information. The farmhouse is from the mid-1800s and fully restored. The museum and house tours are free and they provide a lot of history and agricultural programs on weekends.

Belgium Draft Mule
Meadow Farm is a living history experience with costumed guides demonstrating the 1800's culture of farm life. The guy that was "tending the grounds" was an encyclopedia full of information.  We enjoyed learning about Belgium Draft Mules and enjoyed watching the sheep, especially the lambs.

There's a lot of history in the trees there also, some up to 250 years old.

Get more historical information in the photo captions in my Meadow Farm Museum photo album.
