Sheer Joy
by Ralph Spaulding Cushman
Oh the sheer joy of it!
Living with thee,
God of the universe,
Lord of a tree,
Maker of mountains,
Lover of me!
Oh, the sheer joy of it!
Breathing thy air;
Morning is dawning,
Gone every care,
All the world's singing,
"God everywhere."
Oh the sheer joy of it!
Ever to be
Living in glory,
Living with thee,
Lord of Tomorrow,
Lover of me!
A couple of years back I memorized this poem that I still repeat now and then. The word picture of it all brings joy to my heart.
I hope you will get the same kind of joy from it. What you speak and think about makes such a difference in life and health. Somebody explained it this way:
Words are like fuel; they stoke the fires of faith or fear within you. "David encouraged himself in the Lord" (I Sam 30:6). If you want to get discouraged, talk about your situation. If you want to get encouraged, talk about the God who can change your situation.
