Join Me in The Great Backyard Bird Count

February 18-21, 2011

It's that time of year again.  Put these dates on the calendar and begin making plans by getting the information needed.  It's a fun event to anticipate and be a part of.

It's easy to participate and great fun for the entire family. What an educational experience for children. When they begin to see the detailed beauty of the world around them, they can find beauty in their own lives in places that may not have been noticed.

This is all it takes:

• Plan to count birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count.

• Count the greatest number of individuals of each species that you see together at any one time. You may find it helpful to print out your regional bird checklist to get an idea of the kinds of birds you're likely to see in your area in February.

• When you're finished, enter your results through the web page.

If you've got a camera, be sure to grab some shots which you can enter in the photo contest.

There's lot of other helpful tools and information at the Great Backyard Bird Count website.
