Planting One Billion Trees

A campaign to plant a billion trees within a year was launched at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, last year as a way to encourage all sectors of society (individuals to corporations) to take practical steps to combat the key challenge for the 21st century: climate change

Rehabilitating degraded land and reforesting the planet is necessary to restore the productivity of soil and water resources. Expanding the existing tree cover will help to dispel the build-up of carbon dioxide, a global warming greenhouse gas.

If you're involved with a tree-planting project whether it's in your yard or as part of an organization, be sure to enter your numbers on the One Billion Trees Campaign website.
