The Lord's Prayer

by Donna L. Watkins

This is the model prayer that Jesus gave us while He was on this earth. It is well known and many Christians who have not memorized any Scripture can quote this portion of the Bible. It's so common, we often pass it up for "something else." What else could be more important than how Jesus taught us to pray?

As I was reading it a couple of weeks ago, I saw these P words that could be used to further encourage my soul.

I now begin and end my day with this prayer. It seems to open my spirit to hear better and to pray deeper for others. Maybe it will inspire you also.

PRAISE: Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.

PURPOSE: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

PROVISION: Give us this day our daily bread.

PROMISE: And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us.

PROTECTION: And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

POWER: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

PEACE: Amen.
