Monarch In Virginia - November 1

When monarch migration began I made a post showing where the monarchs would arrive in various areas of the country based on latitudes. You can find your latitude by putting that word and your city and state into a Google search.

Our latitude is 37.86 and it says we should see them September 19 to October 1.

Today is November 1 and this one is feeding in the backyard. He's been on the butterfly bush for quite some time storing up for his late journey. Amazing!

I'm so glad I took the time to dead-head the butterfly bushes mid-October so they could bloom for latecomers. Seeing this little guy is so exciting! That bush may be the reason he survives another day. What a delight!
